Side-Load & Deploy a Network Appliance

Side-load a KVM network appliance, expose it through System Arsenal, deploy it into Mission Planner, wire it, and verify the appliance boots. This workflow is currently unsupported in standard deployments even though it is functional.

ADVANCED TUTORIAL

Side-load a virtual network appliance

This is an advanced, currently unsupported workflow for KVM-compatible virtual network appliances. It is functional, but direct side-loading can damage packaged content or leave the application in a state that normal Arsenal workflows would have prevented. Use it only in a lab/test environment or under STRATUMvisor guidance, especially on production controllers.

WARNING — ADVANCED / UNSUPPORTED

Direct side-loading bypasses normal Arsenal protections. A naming, path, disk-bus, or container-content mistake can break the appliance workflow or interfere with later upgrades.

Match the side-loaded disk naming and template family, refresh Arsenal, then configure the appliance exactly as you would any other deployable system: resources, interfaces, placement, wiring, power, and console verification.

PROCEDURE

Procedure

STEP 01

Side Load Network Appliance Image

Place the appliance disk image in the supported side-load location using the disk-bus filename convention that matches the workload template.

STEP 02

Network Appliance In System Arsenal

Refresh Arsenal and confirm the side-loaded appliance appears as a deployable System Arsenal item before opening Mission Planner.

STEP 03

Configure Network Appliance Deployment

Set the appliance CPU, memory, interfaces, execution target, and other deployment parameters required by the virtual appliance.

STEP 04

Deploy And Connect Network Appliance

Place the appliance on the canvas and connect each appliance interface to the intended STRATUM networks before power-on.

STEP 05

Network Appliance Console Boot

Open the appliance console and confirm the virtual appliance reaches its normal boot sequence.

RESULT

The outcome you should see

The appliance appears in System Arsenal, deploys to Mission Planner, attaches to the intended networks, and reaches its normal boot console.
