Build Your First Datacenter
Build the smallest useful STRATUM datacenter by creating a datacenter, deploying a switch and VM, wiring the network, and powering the workload on.
Build one complete path before adding complexity
Start with a small topology and complete each task in order. The linked procedures provide the detailed controls for creating the datacenter, adding systems, wiring the network, and starting the workload.
A first datacenter only needs one switch, one system, and one external-network connection. Once that path is working, the same Mission Planner controls can be used to add more systems, networks, groups, and services.
1. Create the datacenter
Define the datacenter identity and open its Mission Planner context.
2. Deploy a switch
Place the first network switch and set the required port count.
3. Connect the external network
Attach the switch to the datacenter external-network object.
4. Deploy a system
Choose a system from System Arsenal and set its deployment profile.
5. Wire the VM
Connect the VM interface to the intended switch port.
6. Power on
Start the workload and verify its running state in Selection Details.
The outcome you should see
The first datacenter contains a switch and system connected to the intended network, and the system can be powered on from Mission Planner.
