Create and manage VM snapshots from the node context menu.
Capture a VM point in time
Snapshot management is opened from the selected VM. Create a snapshot before changes that may need to be reversed, then use the snapshot list to confirm the point-in-time copy is associated with the correct workload.
Snapshots are workload state-management tools; they are separate from Arsenal promotion and datacenter package export. STRATUM stores snapshots on the VM’s current execution host instead of reading snapshot state across the network from STRATUM Storage. That keeps snapshot I/O local and avoids unnecessary network traffic, but snapshot chains can consume substantial local disk space. A VM with active snapshots is effectively pinned to its current execution host, and STRATUM HA is not supported for workloads while active snapshots exist.
Snapshots trade mobility for fast local state. Plan local disk capacity accordingly, and remove or consolidate snapshots before relying on host movement or HA behavior.
Procedure
Snapshot Node Action
Open the selected VM’s snapshot action from its context menu when you need a new point-in-time snapshot or need to manage existing snapshots.
Snapshot Management Dialog
Create the snapshot with a clear identity, then confirm that it appears in snapshot management for the correct VM.
The outcome you should see
The snapshot appears in snapshot management and is associated with the selected VM.
