STRATUM® technology is the subject of multiple pending U.S. patent applications.

STRATUM Switch is a next-generation distributed virtual switch. It requires no image, VM, container, or virtual disk. It has a distributed dataplane and management surface, and hardens live STRATUM mission canvas synchronization data. STRATUM Switch configuration is stored within virtual datacenter contents. Export a STRATUM virtual datacenter, and you retain entire switch configuration when you import the datacenter elsewhere.

STRATUM distributed execution

The switch has a dedicated STRATUM orchestration/runtime path, the same path virtual machines are deployed/executed/migrated/scaled/moved. 
On a selected STRATUM worker it:
 

  • Creates the switch virtual wires and ports. 

  • Creates or joins ordinary vdatacenter bridges and stable-VNI VXLANs.

  • Uses STRATUM Connect (Continuum) fabric interface, address, peer flood list, and payload MTU when available.That means you can have a

  • Validates arbitrary external bridge-backed network objects,  or any configured cloud bridge.



STRATUMswitch works with VMs across your on-premise datacenter, edge, and cloud systems within the STRATUM Continuum (network mesh).
